Short Biography

Laurent Marot received his Ph.D. at the University of Poitiers (France) in 2001. The topic was the development of a new system for plasma based ionic implantation. He then moved to ArcelorMittal (France), the largest steel company, where he was team leader and responsible for development projects for new steels. In 2004 he moved to a research center for analyses and surface treatment: Institute of Applied Microtechnologies (IMA-Arc) (Le Locle, Switzerland) to develop carbon deposition. Since 2005, he is working at the Department of Physics at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and is senior scientist responsible for projects on coatings deposition and surface analyses. In 2017 he is also working for the Head of Technology & Security of the Department.

Research Summary

My research is focused on deposition of thin films and characterization by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. Topics are focused on fusion plasma wall interactions as example optical coatings as mirrors for optical diagnostic for the fusion reactor ITER and development of filament structure by helium plasma.
